Knowing selfhood is an illusion without intellectual understanding is even more significant. The intellectual understanding is secondary, and conditional, yes. I knew that's what's you meant in your previous reply.

I have been advised to stand at the front door, not go in so to speak. You be wise NOT to see what is going-on inside. Maybe the un-moderated section would be the best Place to start a psychotherapy thread for the Controllers here, those with the most posts? If the new comers would venture there, they would get to see the true colours of our Leaders. Who advised you to stand at the front door? What does that even mean? If you "can't get no satisfaction", I say go directly to Shawn, this web site owner. He is fair and a very smart dude. Look around some, you can figure out how to contact him. For years my major concern was with new people, people getting c**ped on and feeling forced to leave. In the past ST's forum/discussions has not been a "spiritual" site. But Truth is more important than "spiritual". Truth can/will kick you in the teeth. Thank you STP. I have gone through the front door and started a thread in the place you dont read, where people are permitted to say their feelings so that these others you speak about might "stay a little longer." I am hoping that the older ppl in here take their teeth out before they enter that department. Always lovely to speak with you.

Replace it with "knowledge" if you want. You're right (which is why I didn't contradict you), it's the absence of the peep. This "understanding", this "knowledge" is the absence of illusion.

The unmoderated section is by definition the *place with teeth*. IOW, the moderated section is more civil. So in the unmoderated be prepared for anything. (Did you read the guidelines for the unmoderated section? versus the moderated?)

In the unmoderated section Peter can stay asleep to what's going-on and people can air themselves, talk about their difficulties as in the moderated section people are so whingy Peter is getting on edge.

There is some wiered stuff going-on in this site behind the scenes STP. Hasn't anyone confided to you?

If you have a problem (in the moderated section), let Peter know (it makes sense that he allows 2 reported posts per day, I think more than that says YOU are the problem. I don't care what's going on behind the scenes, I read posts and respond, sometimes begin a new thread. No, nobody has informed me.

I don't think people have a gripe to share 'cept myself, that having been solved. Peter and I chat fairly regular when he has to respond to those people who whinge. I took it upon myself to try out the whinge-approach to see if it worked both ways and accidentally did more than 2. I stopped after that as I need to be taught how to whinge; I don't think I am doing it right. But I have realized that FAT intellects project the most weight.

……….bumped...……… What does presence mean to you? How do you know when you are present? What insures presence?

……….bumped...……… What does presence mean to you? How do you know when you are present? What insures presence? Presence is always here, and now. It can seem to be what underlies our state of body/mind, but that is a limited perspective. Presence, is unbounded, unconditioned, and eternal, and you, are that. Any thought or trace of emotion can seem to obscure it: self-referential thought and negative emotion, in particular. But, ironically, there are anti-trance-trance states, like the one offered by this yogini, that reveal such obscuring factors to be a matter of degree. In terms of maintaining alert attention, an apparent connection with presence is ever only one good deep breath away .. but, to paraphrase Koan 19, Everyday Mind is the Way: .. "move directly toward it, and it gets further from you". heh heh, now I'm reminded of sifty's reflectivity. What's not a matter of degree is the re-orientation of perspective with regard to presence after the implied existential question has been put to rest. And that's not to say those movements of body/mind that seem to obscure will necessarily cease once that questioning is done - although, I can't rule that out as a theoretical possibility - in my experience, negative emotions and self-referential thought will still come and go. But, the veil never falls exactly the same way it used to .. afterward.
