Where can i find a enlightened guru in india?

From my childhood days i am very much interested in spirituality. I always find myself thinking about How to free myself from the cycle of birth and death. Every attachment leads to some kind of suffering. There is something in me that wants to be free. I always think of my body as some kind of cage. I am in search of a guru to bless me on the right path.

While I am from India and thankfully I am getting dis-illusioned from the brain washed version of enlightenment from the forum Masters

Though it is said that way - is it that easy to drop the I Permanently ?

Sir when you wrote my first deep Samadhi experience happened in 1984 and it took 15 years for I to drop.
My immediate thought was it took 15 years for ZD and For Niz it took 3 years of continuous long hours of practice to drop I.
I haven't done serious meditation or anything so it will take time.
Immediately the seeker will justify/accept that it is a very long and arduous path or even for Great Masters who are divine incarnations
it took time and I am just ordinary person.
It requires Guru's guidance,grace else one cannot.
Words like there are only Truly few 100's of enlightened beings in the whole universe kind of misleading false ideas spreaded to people.

Just sharing my opinion.

Enlightenment business globally is full of Traps/Charlatans.

Though there are true organizations which do service but even there is one is most likely to accept that tradition/faiths/beliefs/ than to know the Unadultered version of Truth - Path and most likely to get caught in the Trap of the beliefs/faiths of the Organization(How ever Noble it may be).

The other side of the enlightenment business.

It is very easy to get lost in the jungle of seeking/get lost in the artistic words/metaphors than facts.

Risk of Books and Risk of Gurus.

Especially words like Permanent Ecstasy,Bliss,Ananda,Trance this and that.
Imagining about special powers of the Enlightened.
One will keep imagining about Enlightenment as this and that because there is no opportunity to cross verify.

How to find a True Guru ? and
How to know if the Guru is Enlightened ? .
How to know if Qualified to teach ?

Even if Guru is enlightened what if Guru is just holding on to beliefs that because one is all ready having several births karmic impressions
it is not easy to get liberated.
One must purify mind,renounce do this do that.
Guru is pushing the seeker deep further than what is needed.

if Guru's way suits the seeker ?
if Guru is holding on to certain beliefs and expects the student to accept them as well ?
What if the situation in the Ashram is such that
the fellow disciples of the Guru make it a cult like situation or Guru himself makes it a cult like situation knowingly or unknowingly.

Surrender to Guru,Devotion to Guru,Guru is God Himself.
Typically Guru says and so that must be absolute Truth,how that can be questioned ? even if one questions the reaction/humiliation from others will make the person to leave that Ashram.

Bhakthi - In the name of Bhakthi I have seen monks performing rituals sincerely.
Get up at 3.00 AM in the morning daily decorates the dolls and cook food 4 times for the dolls.
Chant Mantras.
Recite the same old stories - keeping the Bhakths,seeker happy so that they will receive the blessings of the God.
Many fall under this category.

I met a Meditation master - he devoted his life in ths path.He is a master of Vipasana,Jaina,Kundalini,Siddha Yoga and teaching meditation -
when I asked are you 'free from I sense - he said it will absent only during Meditation.But he thinks he is enlightened.

An OSHO disciple/Teacher who is conduction meditation classes for 40 years and 85 years old when asked by Dad if he is enlightened - he said no.

On the contrary the Neo's say - you are allready enlightened - so a fellow seeker was imagining himself to be in advanced level/advanced stage.
When asked - do you have the I sense - he said yes I do.

And people who think Guru's grace/presence is needed.

Sir there are many Charlatans in the name of Guru's claiming themselves to be God.OSHO started it and the enlightenment business ever since is growing.
What has enlightenment has to do with real estate Business,Educational trusts,Cultural programs,Politics,Retail chain stores ?
People who are living 7 star extravaganza life style.

Having patent rights for the methods allready said in Siva Sidhanta,Scriptures,Patanjali,Bhudist as if they created that.
Collecting Hefty money for the Meditation course - It is very easy just change name or make slight change and claim as Guru's.

I totally agree with you. Seeing through the illusion of I/becoming free from the mind is still relatively rare, and there are thousands of pitfalls and misguided "teachers" who point seekers in the wrong direction. Although waking up from the dream of "me" is acausal, it is highly correlated with certain activities and attitudes:

1. An intense desire to know the truth (most important)
2. An enjoyment of the natural world, silence, and solitude
3. Meeting people who are free (who are living examples of what is possible)
4. Trust in oneself and self-honesty about what one doesn't know
5. Open-mindedness
6. Etc.

The only good gurus are the ones who want nothing for themselves. They only want to see you find what you are searching for. Your happiness and your freedom is their primary interest.

Money has nothing to do with it. A guru can be rich or poor, but be fearful of any guru who wants money (or anything else) from you.

America is a young country, and there is no deep-seated cultural baggage from thousands of years of indoctrinated spirituality, so ordinary people here do not see themselves as spiritually limited in the same way as in India. In fact, most of the enlightened people I know are free of all traditions, and they do not belong to any form of organized religion. In this way a sincere seeker in America is probably luckier than a sincere seeker in India.

The good news is that the truth is not hidden. It is always here and now. As Jesus said, "The truth is spread out upon the world but men do not see it." He also said, "The truth is inside of you and it outside of you," and "Seek and keep seeking until you find."

Who you THINK you are is NOT what is searching for the truth. The real seeker is THIS (an infinite unified field of supreme intelligence), and the real finder is also THIS. There is nothing else. You, yourself, ARE THIS. Be still and contemplate this deeply.

Hari Om, I don't know, but I would just like to add something related to our Zendancer's lines of thinking. the question of finding the right Guru is best left to the will of God. In Vedanta philosophy, it is said that when the disciple is fully prepared for the spiritual pursuit through spiritual practices, it somehow happens that the sincere seeker will get that Divine call automatically. What is needed is a feeling of surrender and utmost devotion to the Divine Providence, Mother Nature & spiritual master and true dedication to the very spiritual pursuit that the student has endeavored on. The sincerity in spiritual path will certainly take the seeker to his/her right master. Normally, we Indians have been told that a spiritual personality should not be doubted and never should be questioned about his authenticity or his origins (Nadhi moolam and Rishi moolam should not be analysed). This is a forbidden act in Hinduism.
