Stop thinking, and end your problems. What difference between yes and no? What difference between success and failure? Must you value what others value, avoid what others avoid? How ridiculous! Other people are excited, as though they were at a parade. I alone don't care, I alone am expressionless, like an infant before it can smile. Other people have what they need; I alone possess nothing. I alone drift about, like someone without a home. I am like an idiot, my mind is so empty. Other people are bright; I alone am dark. Other people are sharp; I alone am dull. Other people have purpose; I alone don't know. I drift like a wave on the ocean, I blow as aimless as the wind. I am different from ordinary people. I drink from the Great Mother's breasts. ~Lao Tzu A grown man drinking breastmilk?? ..

"Never go to a doctor whose office plants have died." -Erma Bombeck I assume this is about medical doctors, not PhDs ... What about the obese doctor, or the doctor with obese receptionists? Such situations are much more common than doctors with dead plants. I recently read a doctor saying that patients dying of side-effects of misapplied medicines are collateral damage in the war against disease. I wouldn't recommend that person as a medical doctor.

Questioner is Tao-hsin and Answerer is Seng-ts'an (Third Zen Patriarch)...
Q: What is the method of liberation? A: Who binds you? Q: No one binds me. A: Why then should you seek liberation?

Well, as long as you are not seeking help re: obesity, you should be fine. But this speaks to a more general issue, i.e. living by example. In that sense, it seems wise to not take health advice from unhealthy people, or relationship advice from people who have never been in a relationship, or investment advice from people who are constantly broke, or meditation advice from people who only read books... the list is endless.

But you contradict the premise of Erma's quote ... It’s important to remember that the medical profession cannot heal anyone, they be practicing and loosing their patients regular… to death. Although we are the safest state in Australia, finally the Public are getting an Official enquiry as to ‘why they practice on Babies.’

But you contradict the premise of Erma's quote ... Only if you're a domesticated fern. I think that the original quote, and the short exchange that followed, point to a fact of life: how do you use what your perceive to intuit other knowledge. The mistake we make is to rely too much on rationalizations, on meaningless generalizations that sound right. We don't generally know how to access our intuition. Even more, most of the time we lose focus on our intent. Gurus and well meaning people confuse us while sometimes having good intentions.
