I am new to the message boards. I was wondering if you had considered posting anything on your ratings about Jiddu Krishnamurti?

KSMMS: Welcome to the message board. I don;t think Shawn has rated Krishnamurti, but check his list to make sure. What's your own take on K? From reading a lot of his books and two biographies about him I concluded that he woke up, but was relatively unsuccessful in tranmitting his understanding to others. I think his writings influenced Toni Packer enough to make her leave the Zen tradition, but I've never read about anyone who woke up as a result of his influence. He seemed to appeal to intellectuals, but his teaching method was sort of an anti-teaching method. I always enjoyed reading his stuff, but found the most helpful advice in the Advaita and Zen traditions. Today I think we're lucky to have lots of teachers who are not tied to any traditions. JMHO.

Hello ksmms-If you are the Jani yoga type-which uses the intellect/mind to negate everything, (neti-neti), and have a difficult time with devotion, then Jiddu Krisnamurti will be to your liking. Sages such as Shankara , Jean Klein and Wui-wu-Wei were of this type. It can be rather slippery though as mind, is used to negate mind-Sorta! Good luck!
