stankfish it's wonderful to wake to a delicious scent in the morning be it biscuits baking or toast toasting maybe, it's meatballs frying or french toast in the frying pan or the scent of my woman when there was a woman in my life or the fresh smell of rain as it softly falls anything, I mean anything other than what that guy cooks bakes, fries, sautes don't know how he prepares it but it is some sort of fish don't know what kind but it stinks... stankfish, that's it! it's putrid, it lingers it spreads it's putridity all around
he lives down the hall but could be making it in my kitchen based on the intensity of the foul odor it stays for days and takes your breath away I see him in the elevator with his golf clubs and I want to say something but I don't... sometimes I see the empty box in the garbage room and know that it will all start again gonna go online and price a gas mask that may do it (or not) after all, it is stankfish... charlie giardino 10/28/12

in the homeless place which provided a roof you didn't want to eat there or take a shower, for that matter - you'd go elsewhere one day the smell of cooking meat was overpowering at the local pub he had won the meat raffle & cooked the whole lot up

Charlie, hope you are well on this dark and stormy night.
When it's stormy outside and the TV isn't working, sometimes it's fun to play games.
Here's one called "Guess the Speaker!"
"Ideas about stankfish are not stankfish"
"The stank of the stankfish is only imagined"
(edit): "There is no bad or good smell, this is a false duality"
"The stankfish smells good"
"Noone ever told me the stankfish smelled bad ... give me more now!"
"Where's my camera?"
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily ration of stankfish, and forgive us our stench, as we forgive those who trespass upon our olfactory. And lead me out of this apartment at the appointed time so that I may be delivered from the scent of the stankfish

tone poem
this moment shines it sparkles, it glistens a tremor in the darkness summons the dawn a soft, lilting answer a scent of the heavens as tumbling dice send shivers and sighs cloud driven breezes bring light on a whisper leaves underfoot crunch in the silence wafting, waning drones echo through the night a distant glow approaches slowly, surely a steady dirge weaves its way into a waltz... as ancient dancers turn to salt turn to prayer turn to go...

wow man --- Words that haunt in their remind A voice that weaves of the sublime This view of a top-lit city street The rain-slicked black that shines back steep The strangers walking by aren’t strange My heart has found a whole new range The lanes are empty of most cars Closed stores reflecting back the stars The cool canyon breeze feels good A reminder of the distance From home From a warm room From a soft couch Tonight there is no pull to that I’ve got on my walking hat The destination is no matter The night seems filled with laughter The scenery it shifts At the neighbor’s border rifts A reminder of the time That spins out behind me like a rhyme I pass by lovers and the lonely I see the finery on the homely I hear joy as well as sorrow Humble verses … thankful they follow A smile on my face There is no need for haste No questions, no answers Now that curiosity is chaste

dream state woke to the breath of light the breadth of peace the bread of life the dawn of day the peace that stills instills the heart with love & grace with mercy's face with pouring prayer I find you there with wings unfurled this silent world mist arises day surprises clouds go by morning sky stillness reigns long refrains shore to shore grief no more god intends daily sends love anew what to do but take it in take it in... charlie giardino 11/2/12

There was a sweet rocking motion to that one Chazz. ---- light a candle she trudged down to her car a scowl where a smile should be cursing instead of blessing her extreme good fortune cursing her lack of heat cursing the out-of-order elevator instead of being thankful that her legs were still working that she could still breathe unlike the dozens who couldn't cursing her inconveniences in the home she still had she is not to be condemned or judged too harshly she is worse off by far in that she just doesn't know just doesn't see the good fortune she still enjoys there are plenty of people that need help, need prayers she just doesn't know she is one of them... charlie giardino 11/1/12 Why do they polish mirrors? To see things flipped about And flat Is it to see anything at all? People mistake themselves for that image And curse the wind

Okay so CG was not the muse of this one, I was looking through old poetry files for something else, and found this instead. It is not quite fit for the poetry thread. Perhaps it can add to the stankfish, and I don't think we really want the wind to change on our faces at the exact moment we discover these things:
dog poo on the carpet this is zen my attention wide open

set the light on fire
turn your soul to dreaming turn the skies to winter turn the dial to loving turn the air to joy
turn the night to daylight turn your soul to song turn your heart to praying turn your back to go
turn your feet to eden turn your mind to light turn your eyes to seeing turn the day to bright
set your sights to heaven set your heaven down set your face to mercy and peace will sure abound
set the light on fire let your dust arise we are set in splendor we are god's surprise
in the end it's over as in the end it starts love can live if only we find it in our hearts

friends no more
we were two long time friends who had an understanding the take off was so smooth but not so much the landing
we met after a while to catch up on what went down we laughed and drank a bit and the love was still around
she listened to my woes and I lent an ear to hers then, as the night went on a funny thing occurred
well, it may be funny now but not so then and there I still see it plain as day I caught her icy stare
it was innocent and small as the appetizers came the waitress walked right by us and turned on the Yankee game
I am not the biggest fan for the Yankees all the less but when something seemed to happen it caught my eye, I guess
and that was when it happened she caught my sidelong glance and immediately wrote me off without a second chance
I meant no serious harm but I was met with such derision I didn't even mean to look it was in my line of vision
'well, if that's the way you feel' she said in an angry tone 'you can go and watch your game and I will stay alone'
I heard everything she said and heard it very clearly but when all was said and dome I paid for it so dearly
we left without goodbyes I haven't seen her since I told her I was sorry and all she did was wince
we were two long time friends comrades in great standing all that is dead and gone we had a misunderstanding
