Just a note on the cultural aspect of it... on the Forum there are people of ANY nationality. Chinese, Indians, Pakistani, Egyptians, Europeans, other parts of Asia, Latin America, Russians... Americans are the minority. we , by now, have all been poisoned by hollywood style superheroes--the ego loves it. Jed plays on that. His second book about Moby Penis ( ) herman melville--he seems to think that melville was enlightened-- but, even if jed his interpretation of the book is right, melville was just an artist, writing from intuition, and unaware of the deeper layers of what he wrote... Any artist will tell you that when working and trusting intuition, things come out that the author never intended, yet fit perfectly in the story.I am a painter and have seen this happen time and again. Sometimes i KNOW a painting is finished , but it can take years before i meet someone whon tells me what it means. Jed is apparently unaware of this. In his last book he suddenly says that LSD could have saved the world.I mean like, really---

I don't have a clue what your post means........(but I guess tano does...)... Well, seems to me you missed the simplicity of it. If one has to give up books one has to give up phone books. If I'm right, why do you think it might be you missed that? OK. I didn't realize it was a joke. I was looking at the meaning behind tano's words, not the words. What you wrote didn't compute.

Hi Tano---i quote you...:Separate the message and the man that is a mistake--either the man IS the message, or the message is a mind fabrication, and , at best, incomplete. ´´A Master is one who blesses the living crap out of everyting he sees´´ PS´´bad temper´´ etc is just a sign of incomplete purification...usually first , second and third chakra issues. Most advaitists are content with a mental realisation---which is only one way of achieving freedom...the first step if you like. They are mostly quite unaware of what goes on in relation to these chakras...´´the man is free, but underneath the cannibal has his feast´´(paraphrasing Satprem from his book ´´the adventure of consciousness´´) gurus who want money for their service are suspicious to say the least. Or is freedom only for those who have the money to afford it? You are still of the impression that 'masters' exist. You are still of the belief that 'they' all edhere to the code of 'goodness' and 'humility'. You still think that 'enlightenment' is about the third eye, white light and soup kitchens for the poor. You are still in the grip of the illusion. To see clearly one has to also UNDERSTAND the nature of the himan condition. Without this clear seeing - one will perpetuate the lie that is the Enlightenment. Truth - is not it. you can believe whatever you like i really see zero difference between your and my position. If you really lived what Jed meant, you wouldnt be posting here. usually, like Jed, folk havent got the foggiest clue what goes on inside them selves, their bodies etc.Dead from the waist down. Jed carefully avoids mentioning sex in the books.Aint that peculiar, to say the least?? the clue to this all is : MAYA itself is an illusion.

Jed carefully avoids mentioning sex in the books.Aint that peculiar, to say the least?? the clue to this all is : MAYA itself is an illusion. Hi Sunshine, There is a difference. I don't see Jed or anyone as a 'master'. There is no such thing. Regarding 'I wouldn't'... there is no 'would' or 'wouldn't' or 'should' or 'shouldn't' in Presence. Regarding bodies... a quote from Jed to me once "You, and most others, including me, are not as clever at hiding as we think we are. The human being is an instrument of remarkable sensitivity even though we treat it like ****. "
Regarding sex... Jed has a girlfriend. He mentions sex, just not in his books. It's not what drives him, like it does the overwhelming majority of men. Regarding Maya... you are correct. It is an illusion, doesn't exist. quote:Regarding Maya... you are correct. It is an illusion, doesn't exist.
haha clever gal... the reality of the Transcendent is at first so overwhelming, that the material universe appears to be two dimensional, unreal, an illusion. And because of this, most folk do not look any further, as it would be contradictory to what they experience to be real. For thousands of years this mistake has persisted. Especially in the Advaita tradition. Tantric tradition tells a quite different story. Jed makes the, almost universal, mistake, to project -extrapolate-his experience onto all of humanity, as if he were the measure stick by which all has to be measured. Pretty arrogant if you ask me...From his untouchabke ivory tower he lashes out at anything that disagrees with his ´´experience´´--as so many so called ´´teachers´´ do... ´´He mentions sex, just not in his books. It's not what drives him,´´
then i am compelled to ask: What IS driving Mr McKenna??

mdp ....do you think this is the real Jed? (website) That forum is a spin-off from a previous one supposedly run by "Jed McKenna", that I believe is now shut down. What I heard from someone who says they know the author(s) was that there were actually two authors collaborating to write these books..."Jed McKenna" is just a character they created..all of the story is fictional. The early books have somewhat of a double message that is completely missed by many; While the Jed character indeed has a certain degree of clarity, the author's also wanted to demonstrate that despite this, just how easily spiritual ego can arise to fill in the void that gets created when certain realizations happen. Apparently, The Jed McKenna of these forums is not actually affiliated with the books. From what I've seen, there are vast stylistic differences in writing between the forum and the books, that suggest to me the same.

From what I've seen, there are vast stylistic differences in writing between the forum and the books, that suggest to me the same. There were no 'two authors'. There was one 'Jed' and his publisher. The first version of the first book was all of 40 pages, written in a mad rush, in the same way a poet writes drunk on his newly found love. Hence, what you call 'the stylistic differences'. He needed a good editor, in the same way supermodels need their stylists to look good. It's not the editing that sells, but the message, right? He is Jed. Follow the money.Sounds as though you are certain then that you have not been hoodwinked by someone who simply spouts a similar message to the Jed character? & re: the bolded: Jed's message is one delivered by many... It was indeed his stylistic delivery and great story-telling that set his books apart from the others imo. Folks seem to love (and hate!) the brashness of his delivery...a great selling feature however you slice it. The idea of 'following' the message of another seems silly when it's clear we all have access to the same.

His technique 1 is almost precisely ZD's ATA-T [Attend The Actual minus Thought] (if not precisely).. that's significant in itself. But then he does not make a big deal about it, except he said to become addicted to it. He is very subtle, in the Jed Rants, he just says stuff, it's up to the individual to recognize if stuff is significant, or not. He is nailing people left and right very succinctly. And I figured if he is not the real Jed (the person behind "Jed") then "Jed" would shut him down (legally if necessary)....or not, he could just be enjoying the 'show'. But ultimately it doesn't matter what anyone (else) thinks, it only matters to one person, the person interacting with Jed. One other thing, I didn't figure that Jed could be finished with interacting with people. Invisible Guru is a way to do that, & +.

One other thing, I didn't figure that Jed could be finished with interacting with people. Invisible Guru is a way to do that, & +. I don't know what ATA is. Jed's request to those who joint the Forum is very simple: only talk about what is happening inside of you. No cross talk, except his rant threads. No discussing other teachings. No quotes, videos or links. The focus is on you at all times. No charge, but his SKYPE communication will cost, so yes, Stardustpilgrim is correct. Jed never drags anyone, an individual choice. Otherwise one can have all the self enquiry with his input for free. He can take it. Blank, he never emotes. I stopped emoting since the day it got me. ATA stand for Attend the Actual. It's a practice, somewhat like Mindfulness, except that thinking is suspended as much as possible. Noticing with the senses without adding anything; the sensation of coffee being drunk, the feel of a breeze on our skin, the vision of a tree (without naming, identifying, comparing, etc.). It's proposed by Zendancer (our infamous moderator here).

I guess in the end it doesn't really matter who is behind that forum if what is being offered is considered to be of value by those interacting, but I find it very odd, (as do others who are skeptical that the author of these books is behind the forum) that the forum would not be at all affiliated with the wisefool press, 'Enlightenment Trilogy' book website ....ie; why not a link to the forum from the wisefool press site?...and visa-versa? If an author makes the effort to create a website to advertise and sell his books, surely a related forum would also be linked to?

then i am compelled to ask: What IS driving Mr McKenna?? I am not sure about the point you are making in the first passage, can you please simplify it. Regarding 'lashes out and arrogant"... from the Forum to a member: "S/A is something anyone can do and it's self-directed. There are a number of other ways, some more effect for the appropriate personality. Worked sufficiently for me.
Regarding other teacher's recommendations, I'm not here to evaluate what they share. You have to find something/someone that works for you. That part is not my job because I am not responsible for you or any realizations you might experience."
He never told anyone that his experiences mean anything or should be held as a torch. YOUR experience is what matters. And after a time one begins to notice that experiences mean absolutely nothing, a cloud passing in Awareness. But they can be fun nevertheless. Regarding what drives Jed Mckenna.. it's pretty self evident, isn't it? Being. And that's all inclusive. But don't take my word for it. And after a time one begins to notice that experiences mean absolutely nothing, a cloud passing in Awareness.
says Jed. as to the first passage you want me to simplify--maybe an analogy helps. Imagine the pacific ocean, deep, still, perfectly silent and peaceful...that is who you experience yourself to Be.Upon that surface floats a microthin layer of about one square yard of oil. its multi-colors reflect in the sun like a rainbow...that is our entire material universe with its 320 billion galaxies. from the perspective of Being, that universe is as if it were totally insignificant, almost non -existent--(Maya) jeds approach, as is the buddist approach, (not tibetan buddism btw, they are more tantric) is one of negation, which is fine...it is just not the only way, and it is incomplete for as long as maya isnt realised to be for what it is--as real as the rest of it...just do not identify with a part of it but embrace the whole of it... tantra uses the vibrations of life, to reach the transcendent.Taking the cow by the horns, if you like.

I am certain. As I said... I talk to him away from the Forum now and spent around seven months communicating on the Forum too. The speculation about the multiple authors and the intended hidden message is just that unless specific names are put to it. Like you say, anyone with that information could start with a name from the publisher -- "follow the money". Absent that it's obviously just wannabe hot-air.
