Although Jerry Stocking is not widely known, I believe he is one of the greater spiritual teachers alive today.
Jerry's history is incredible fascinating. He was originally trained as an EST seminar leader, where he learned to observe people's patterns and the structure of personality.
In the years that followed, Jerry developed his own system for the dismantling of personality and the creation of possibility in a sales context.
In the meantime, a flexibility was growing inside of him. Jerry became more familiar with possibility, and the no-thing from which it is created.
After intense years of self observation, the internal dialogue in Jerry's head ceased and his thoughts began to move faster than he could observe them.
Jerry originally thought this was enlightenment, but has realized in recent years, that he experiences varying degrees of awakeness.
Jerry does not claim to be more awake or important than anyone else, but consistently explores interactions that will wake people up and have them living with more possibility. He is far from the model of the guru on top of the mountain, sharing peace with passerby's.
He is instead a guru in the modern world. Enjoying humanity's modern fruits, and observing the situation as we create it.
He leads workshops and has authored several books to aid people in discovering their own awakeness. The attendees of these workshops are "hunting awakeness" themselves and often experience brief moments of intense personal insight.
I nominate Jerry Stocking as a modern spiritual teacher for distinguishing a spiritual path dedicated to waking up by helping others wake up.

He is instead a guru in the modern world. Enjoying humanity's modern fruits, and observing the situation as we create it. What an amusing phrase. So like, he's bought himself an iPad or is it more sinister than that? I attended a 4 day seminar at EST's successor "The Landmark Forum" and I did get a lot out of it, including a once in a lifetime psychotic episode, but overall positive. It was a bit focussed on "how to get what you want" ie based in materialism for my liking and if Jerry subsequently went into Sales (as did the Forum leader that took my course) then ... well, I was going to say he sounds like he's now seen the emptiness of materialism, but there's that line about enjoying fruit. I'll read further...

From Jerry's Site: Hmm, trying to hold on to the high and re-gain those peaks? This was my experience of "The Landmark Forum" was that you did come out of it feeling incredibly alive and connected. But it was a high, and when people come down from it they tend to sign up for the next program. Landmark were big on their sales pitch, and phoning you back again and again. Having said that, a couple of friends of mine really got into it and they seem to be communicating really well with each other, very open and honest.

I also took the Landmark Forum and the advance course and the communication course. At first with the Forum I did get a lot out of it but with the other 2 course my experience began to fade quite a bit.
Then there are those that become "Landmark junkies" they take every course that Landmark has . It's like a fix for them.

Est and the Landmark forum were great, yet everything they had to teach could have been taught in a few minutes, or gotten from Dorothy Rowe's book on how we create meaning. They had another good one liner. What happens is 1%, your interpretation of it is 99% of your experience. Here's a poem in which I tried to sum up everything they teach:
Forgot to Choose
I went to a wise man and told him all of my problems. My money is gone, my wife has left, my children are brats and nothing works. He told me, "my friend you simply forgot to choose," and they ushered me out. Unsatisfied I stopped at the door and turned back at him and shouted: "Forgot to choose what?" I demanded. "You forgot to choose what you have."
