I'd be interested if anyone has read any of his books (I haven't) or attended any of his meetings. He lives near me i thought I might pop round and see him at some point. Saw him on Conscious TV and he seems OK.
I'm fed up with reading about non-duality etc too many paradoxes - for instance, if I'm not the 'doer' what is it that makes me keep reading about it? If the 'me' is a mental construct, why am i writing this?
I could handle Buddhism to a certain extent (anatta, skandhas etc) but this advaita stuff is driving me nuts, or its driving a non-existent something nuts. I mean, I can't become awakened as there's no one to be awakened, so why is awakening being sought. What is 'it' that drives me incessantly onwards on a quest that is futile.
I hope my dilemma makes some sort of sense?
Thanks!

Well he is very much into non-duality might give you spiritual indigestion? He seems like a straight shooter along the lines of Tony Parsons .
When it drives you nuts make nut butter!

"He lives near me i thought I might pop round and see him at some point."
Take him a potted plant ~ one that you chose with him in mind. If he's not in at the time that you go round, then leave the plant on the doorstep.
You'll know whether to leave a note with it.

If the 'me' is a mental construct, why am i writing this? If you look closer you'll see that some hands are writing this...

Do people really bring a plant to a stranger anymore? How old are you dear? Maybe better with a pot plant.

It's very indicative of your actual thinking, that you call Richard Sylvester a stranger.

As rachael once said in friends (yes I am sad), the difference between love and hate is a scarf!

I live about 8 miles fron Mr Sylvester. I wasn't going to just turn up, I'd call him first (of course he may not except people coming 'round, with or without potted plants) maybe I could bring him a cake (I know he's got a book coming out about cakes so it should be a winner)
There's a mansion up the road from me full of Scientologists, the main UK HQ of AMORC and a buddhist retreat centre, I'm spoilt for choice round here.

I'm sure he would be delighted with a cake that you had made the effort to make yourself.

Maybe he is the same guy. He used the name "Randy" prior to Michaelsees, and he used some other names, too.
