Hi, anyone familiar with the works of Anthony De Mello ? How would his thinking relate to the knowledge spread on this website ? Where would you put him in the ranking list ?
Thanks Wim

Prompted by your post, I looked up and watched two videos on the net ( here and here). He seems clear and within the types of teachers rated here. I really liked how playful he was. I wouldn't worry too much about the ratings here since they are just one guy's opinion to help save others a bit of time. I would have rated UG higher (for example), but he obviously didn't speak to Shawn like he spoke to me.

Hi WDV, Yes, as I have clocked before, there is a significant number of this forum’s members who are familiar with A. de Mello. Seems to me that what he pointed to is very much the same as what the main motivation here is about. So if you feel pulled in by his message there’s a very good chance you could want to hang around here. De Mello did wonders to inspire a lot Christians out of dogma, and by doing so annoyed no-end the more rigid ones who saw him as a heretic! Even though he originally was a Jesuit priest, his ways were frowned upon by the Vatican.
About the teachers ranking, I second Karen’s post

I agree with the other posters here De Mello was non-dual before it was cool his death in 1986 was sad tragedy, but the church was already cracking down on him if you can track down and download his talks he gave to religious leaders in 1985 in New York City they are awesome I will see if I can find a link if you like

carse's book uses a De Mellow quote that I really like 'Wisdom can be learned, but not taught'.

His book "Awareness" was a wonderful sledge hammer to my belief systems. I enjoy him because he comes from a counseling and Christian based background that I relate to well. Here is a great website of his quotes. The main website is a wonderful resource of pictures, poems and writings that have a different flavor than others I have been to. You will have to copy and paste link. peacefulrivers.homestead.com/AnthonydeMello.html
