true-understanding is when you land on your feet having dropped out of the collection of precious memories (of past understandings) they no longer needing your attention.
true understanding allows faultless action in the field one is operating within, such as a Fruiterer :The way they float-about stacking their products is beauty in action.

One of my teachers lived by the coast and did Taiji in a small park down by the pier near where local fishermen hang out.. we were doing Taiji one afternoon and my teacher commented on the exquisite Taiji this particular fisherman was doing, which really confused me.. the fisherman was working on a fishing net while he was chatting with the other fishermen, he went on to say that he watched other fishermen buy his nets, and.. all the while the fisherman wove his nets while talking, walking around, but barely ever looking at his work.. my teacher said he wished he could have such 'life', such simple clarity.. i said, "you should talk to him", but he wouldn't.. he said, "if i choose to talk to him it will be because it works, not because 'i should'..

Teacher wisdom imbued. Working alongside such an adept brings to attention the hidden art of transferance. Words sometimes get in the road due to the lack of depth of the listener. Best to be practical and allow the hidden hand to function.
right with you bro

right with you bro What is the hidden hand? I think he's talking about craft, skill, alfio is a poet. The fisherman made hundreds of nets, the minds attention put the skill into his hands so that the mind could be otherwise occupied as the hands tied the knots to make the nets (IOW, skill now "hidden", in the hands). I think I recall zd saying that Gary Weber (I think quoting someone else) said that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to master a skill or craft. In this case it's called muscle memory, habitual mind-body feedback loops in the nervous system, sensory nerves + motor nerves. But of course you know that in Tai Chi the movements can't be completely habitual, attention has to participate, as some of the same movements fork, as it were, move into different forms. Attention has to watch for these forks in the road.......... sdp

It's a tough sell that's for sure. Yeah, so far no one seems to be biting.
