I haven't gotten that far, but one would have to get through 13 to come to 14, as previously stated........ Once you have a practice, you keep practicing, but things will be added. sdp If you were given only 3 weeks to live, do you reckon you'd get a dash on? Three weeks is not enough time to get very far, but you have hit upon an important idea. We will die eventually, so time is counted. The fact that we will die some day should get us serious. sdp

Why do you say I'm not a neophyte? I very strongly susprect that of all people on this forum I am the least enlightened one. I've never even had a spiritual experience. I strongly reject the claim that nobody gets enlightened. The fact is that for example Eckart Tolle's mind-body is enlightened and mine isn't. Nothing. Whatever I have tried so far has had no effect whatsoever. So I decided to stop wasting my time. So before I pick up a practise it must be one that is a lot of fun, or I must be certain that it will deliver the goods. But I'm not going to go on a wild goose chase. First of all, I'm not a non-dualist, at least in the accepted sense. What you're asking for is a recipe. There is one but it's in stages. There are barriers one has to pass to get to the next stage, gates. All the barriers are actually inside one, but sometimes they look external. Everything is a test. The first stage is to recognize the teaching. If what I'm saying is accurate here, you have to at least recognize that it is a beginning. If you don't, end of story, you move on to something else. I have to give a little background. We are born as essence, our true self, who we are meant to be. Essence comes down from a higher level of reality, an invisible higher dimension. Essence grows when we are born but simultaneously personality/ego begins to form. What it means for essence to grow is that the food we eat, the air we breath and the energy that enters us through the five senses as impressions goes in-to feeding essence. What it means for personality to form is all the information that enters us is stored in the neural networks of the brain/body. A great deal of this comes from our parents or other primary caregivers. This includes the thoughts, emotions and actions of those we encounter. At about the age of six, more or less, personality has formed to such an extent that everything that enters us now falls upon personality, not essence. Therefore, our essence ceases to grow, personality takes all the energy. The journey to enlightenment or awakening is first of all a journey of liberation. The journey is about reversing the process, to again live through essence instead of personality stealing all the energy. So liberation is liberation from personality, who we think ourselves to be. As energy went in-to forming personality, interior spiritual practices are about ceasing to feed personality and then taking the energy out-of personality. Practices similar to ATA-MT do exactly this. Now, this is a long and difficult process, you need to know that heads-up. Essence grows via the transformation of energy. One can transform and save energy. A certain accumulation of a certain quality and quantity of energy is what brings awakening, enlightenment, liberation. The beginning stages can be verified by oneself. ATA-MT is a beginning, noticing sounds, noticing material objects, noticing tension in the body, facial expression, postures, gestures, colors, shapes. These things have to be practiced and understood to even get to the next barrier, to even find the next barrier. sdp In truth, Reality is altogether devoid of actual distinctions, including every single one you have mentioned here. Actual distinctions would imply an actual beginning, ending and outer limit of Reality, and such 'edges' have never been, and will never be possible. There is ONLY the eternal infinity. Actually, you are That.

Of course that was my agenda, I even said so in this thread. I'm just astonished that it seems impossible to get any clear language out of enlightened folks. It's just not possible. It's like... I seriously have no idea what's wrong with them. Anyhow, I give up on this thread. I just profoundly and honestly don't understand how you guys can be like that. Just doesn't make sense to me, this huge disconnect between what you claim and what you actually say and do. Like, when I know something then I'll explain it so that everyone understands. And when I don't know then I'll just admit it. It#s that simple. But you guys are different, I don't understand why you are like that. I think you start these discussions just so that you can end them this way. We're all pretty foolish for getting sucked in every time. It's not the first time that he is asking the enlightenment question. If I recall correctly, he wants to get enlightened without having to do anything (i.e. unconditional). What he doesn't realize so far is that your answer that the question is misconceived (and therefore none of his business) is actually meeting his condition. So, I'd say his mind got caught in a paradox where it can't see a way out and Q is just throwing himself a pity party again. I suggest to let go of his usual brainy approach and instead taking a closer look at the non-dual no-brainer collection.

And what has to be practiced and understood at the barrier, that is the 14th of these next barriers, after this initial, next barrier? I haven't gotten that far, but one would have to get through 13 to come to 14, as previously stated........ Be VERY alert, and not know. I've never understood what this "not know" means. How to "not know"? "Not know" what? What time it is, who the president of Uruguay is... what should I '"not know"?

Please dont take this personally, but this question about the girl is total bullnuts. You are not that girl. There is enough bs mental abstraction as it is without making up someone who doesnt exist. To play along though, i think you'd have to spend time with her to even know where to start - 84,000 dharma doors and all... The question is not bs at all. It's simply supposed to force you to give the simplest and most precise answer without any stupid flowery language. You really should watch your language. I don't like it when people insult me. If you are concerned with me taking something personally, then just avoid insulting me in the first place.

These things have to be practiced and understood to even get to the next barrier, to even find the next barrier. sdp A very simple question comes to my mind. Why should I prop up this "essence" if it is so weak that it loses even against "ego"? Jesus said one should build a house on rock, not on sand. Why should I invest all the energy and effort into "essence"? Today it lost to ego, maybe tomorrow it will lose to something else, so why should I support a loser? On the other hand, I know that ego already won one battle, so shouldn't I rather strenghten ego and prepare it for the next battle? I just profoundly don't understand why I should want anything have to do with this "essence". It betrayed me once already, it seems to me that before I should put any trust into it... rather it should do me a favour, and not the other way around. Essence never did anything good for me, all I know is that if it even exists then it clearly betrayed me, so why on earth should I do anything for it? It seems to me that first it should come to me and apologize and then do something good for me before I should be willing to give it any help. See, I think in very simple terms, like a child almost, but I'm dead serious.

I didn't insult you, I said the question was BS, but I see you taking stuff personally so I thought I'd preempt that. If I did insult you, then I'm sorry about that. That question does not go for simplicity or being precise because it wanders off into mental abstraction. You've been given simple and direct answers before, but you just don't seem to like what you hear because it doesn't meet your expectations, and rather than question your assumptions or beliefs, you go off on some tangent about trying to explain this stuff to someone with an intellectual disability. Why don't you try a different approach?

I didn't insult you yes, you did, if you call something that I do "bs" then obviously it's an insult against me, I said the question was BS, but I see you taking stuff personally so I thought I'd preempt that. if you fear that I might take things personally then please find a way to not insult me. it's not very difficult If I did insult you, then I'm sorry about that. apology acceptedThat question does not go for simplicity or being precise because it wanders off into mental abstraction. wrong. there is zero mental abstraction in the question. the question was designed to produce as little mental abstraction as possibleYou've been given simple and direct answers before, where? i don't see any that meet the requirementbut you just don't seem to like what you hear because it doesn't meet your expectations, and rather than question your assumptions or beliefs, you make up hypothetical people... how about you stop psychoanalizing me?
