Sometimes when I look at the boards, I think "What have I done?" I notice with a mix of amusement and disappointment the number of posts on the different forums: - Only 380 posts in the "spiritual friends" board (which was the original purpose of this site)
- 125,000 "general spiritual discussion" posts
- Nearly 8500 "unmoderated discussion" posts (a board started only a few weeks ago and which has become an ego-parading penisfight)
- 4000 posts about "spiritual teachers"
I suppose my original intent of helping people to meet face-to-face with others has been supplanted by technology such as Meetup, so in that respect I shouldn't be surprised. And I was very happy to meet a couple of people at a recent TAT meeting who are members of this site... so perhaps there are a few meetings that have materialized from this place. Maybe it's not so bad.... Is there value here, or are most people just killing time with intellectual cleverness? Are people questioning themselves, or bolstering their opinions on the backs of others? BTW, I'm considering adding the phrases "there is no one to get enlightened," "there is no enlightenment," "you are already enlightened" and "there is nothing to do" to the list of banned words. Sounds like you had some expectations that didn't come to fruition. But that, and this forum, is no less a wonderful thing, if only for the subject matter, but mostly for the peeps that frequent the place, for it is through them that we unlearn.

Shawn You have done well. People who do not go after their spirit stuff straight up always use drama and conflict to force them selves into growing the hard way. You have given the people a place to play out these grand dramas and plays, so that we can learn. Let her rip.

Well, yeah, but haven't you 'contributed' the most to 'other than' his intentions? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

YES!! I suggest replacing "There is no one to get enlightened" with "You're phucked", and "There is nothing to do" with "STFU". Ha! My thought was the opposite - censoring the source of advice. Replace "There is no one to get enlightened" with "Yada yada yada", and "There is nothing to do" with "There really is something to do, but I have no idea what it is".

Those tools don't seem to be very useful here. On the OTHER subject of following the owner's intentions, I've been here quite a while and this forum has never followed those intentions. It seems that train jumped the track a very long time ago.

I guess we could just replace all words with 'blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada,'

There are times when this site gets tedious, but like many others have said, it's full of gems. You just gotta wait for them to appear. Sometimes "sword" fights are needed....and the unmod area works as a great cave for the penis's to parade.... I also think there is probably 95% intelectualizing going on here. But that other 5% is great stuff. When the conversations actually get real and the egos are dropped and peeps actually share, it gives me goose bumps at times. Feels just like being at a satsang when someone has an ah ha moment right in front of everyone. I'm reminded of one I watched with Byron Katie and this gay guy who came up to do the work with her. He got to the turn arounds and just lost it. Amazing to see someone have insights. I'll see if I can't post a link to share with y'all. It was good stuff. Anyways got off point here... The site is great and I hope you just let it run how it wants. I think it is a great soil for many upcoming teachers of THIS. And I got a feeling there will be more friendships formed in the coming years.

it lives it walks it talks and it breaths and when dust kicks up it even will sneeze what is the thing that I have made? this monstority of, a snidely man-cave? who are the ones that prance around here? some with a scowl, some spreading cheer others dismiss purpose and bliss and do so with a flash of hubris food it does soar, oh through the air! but the besmudged stand with nary a care as the pudding it gets caught in the hair some slip on the floor and cry "hey that's not fair!" sometimes a line will magically rhyme though indavertance surely will shine thousands of chimps caught in a room clickety-clack till the day of mans doom! now and again a sane thought does waft up through the madness to be held fast by those that race in a fashion so blind to escape accident ever sublime clickety-clack man-cave ego-crack what have you done? if not this cave it would be another one. ~ a pearl of wisdom flies through the air but some food going that way too intercepts our pearl and covers it with goo ~ I know that you don't know and you know that I do but I don't and you do nothing because there is something about nothing and much ado about what you said I said but I say it is all you. just blame my ego. let's play more word lego. ~ poetry flickers mutley snickers ~

If it wasn't for this board being here nowhereman would not have posted a thread called 'By your Grace' on this board under a forum heading called 'Spiritual Teachers' with a video embedded in which I read this quote:
The self is like a pearl. To find it you must dive deep down into silence until it is reached. ~ Sri Ramana Maharshi
This board is here. This happens. Sometimes there are pearls. Often they are found here under the noise. Perhaps they will lead somewhere like the pearl in the above quote refers to.

Technically, you haven't done anything, as there is no doer! Them's banning words!
