You gave me a few of those, ZD, and I highly recommend that sort of thing to others. But I still can't figure out why a strong man can't lift his own leg! Don't ruin it for me though.. I suspect it'll give me a nice laugh sooner or later. Out of curiosity, does anybody know of a website / book / other source to find more koans? ZD gave me a few but I'd like to keep on my toes, so to speak, and I only managed to find sites with short stories / 'moral' bits. There are two good books that I can recommend. The first is "Ten Gates, The Kong-An Teaching of Zen Master Seung Sahn." The second is "The Whole World Is a Single Flower, 365 Kong-ans for Everyday Life." The second book contains lots of peripheral koans, so the total number of listed koans is probably more than a thousand. The commentary is interesting and the second book uses Christian and Taoistic koans as well as Buddhist koans. Together, these books explain a great deal about how koans are used by teachers, and how the resolution of koans often carries over into the events of everyday life. Used copies of these books are probably available on Amazon. If not, let me know and I'll find a source where they can be bought. The first book was initially published by Primary Point Press and the second book was published by the Charles E. Tuttle Co.

Thanks, I'll check the local bookstore and the library first since I don't have a working computer right now (maybe I will around monday at the latest). I'm getting pretty interested in this stuff now that I see it's not as hard to interact with stuff as I thought it was. It's crazy how many senses and sensations you can be aware of at once!

I'm getting pretty interested in this stuff now that I see it's not as hard to interact with stuff as I thought it was. It's crazy how many senses and sensations you can be aware of at once! I checked Amazon and the first book can be bought used for $1.72. The other book used was $5.89. Plus shipping and handling of course. If someone with a computer can order these for you, the total cost would probably be somewhere around $12. I doubt that you will find these books in a library and if ordered through a bookstore the cost would probably be in the range of $40. If you can't find anyone who can order them for you, let me know and I'll do it. Cheers.

The realization is fundamentally an unknowing. No master has ever told you the Truth because there's nothing to say about it, and there's nothing to say because there's no knowledge contained therein. Truth is not inaccessible to mind because it doesn't have the capacity to comprehend. It's inaccessible because there is nothing to comprehend. This can be absolutely known beyond doubt, but it is not a knowing of something, is it? If you listen more carefully to your teachers, you'll notice they are using mind's language to tell you what is NOT so. Endless dissertations explaining in excruciating detail what never was and can never be. Excuse me Enigma that is pure BS on your part. You are either very dumb which I doubt or very ignorant which I feel to be the case. I suggest you listen to Nis giving satsangs he is Not coming from a place of not knowing you have to be a loon to this this way. Nis gets very specific when he talks about life, you, where you were before you were born etc. I never heard such foolishness and surprise it came from you. I can fill this whole page with quotes that Nis is telling you directly how thing are.. eriously if you talked the way you just posted in Nis satsangs he would grab you by your shirt and kick your butt out the door. Nis by far of all the guru/teachers told you exactly how it is. He never skirted any issue and for sure did not come from a place of not knowing. That is just a bunch of crap you came up with and has nothing to do with the truth. Gessh what some will do to bend the truth to fit their idea is amazing. Michael Life, you, where you were before you were born, is all duality, not Truth. All such teachers have to enter into your dream just to talk about it, and what they say about it may be different for everyone they talk to because there's nothing fundamentally true about any of it. Mostly, what you'll hear (if you listen) is what isn't so, what is illusion, what is imagination, what you are believing that isn't so. So how are things actually, Michael?

Things are good thanks but you are way wrong on this. Seriously you need to listen to some of Nis satsangs. When Nis says 9 days before you are born if you are awaken or not this is what you get in your present life. Now how in hell can you call this imagination. Come on now you need to fess up here. Nis always gave very specific advice it was not what isn't so it was What is.

That's not to say that it might not be true, but surely he's talking about the memory of an experience? So the mind is involved, and the mind comes up will all sorts of things all of the time, as you know. Or was he quoting from a Holy Book? If he was referring to personal experience, why would he then think that could be applied to anyone else?

At least it starts this day off with a seriously good laugh.

Michael, what's up with all the drama? You seem to be clinging to your positions quite strongly. Contentment arises from being thankful for what is, not from longing for what isn't.

Yes it was, but Max does wield a rather sharp needle. Just remember that compassion and empathy are virtues.
